Seven years ago, our founder Clarissa Rayward designed and launched an online community for like-mined legal professionals – The Club. What began as a knowledge-sharing venture has become so much more. Our Club members have contributed their extensive knowledge to the community, facilitating a change in the way that lawyers practice and show up in our businesses and lives. The Club has brought us everyone involved much joy, meaning and purpose in ‘Law Land!’

Kind words from Club members...

I changed my whole work life and found a way to continue working in the legal industry when I knew that I couldn't go on but didn't know what to do instead. Finding some people who were positive about making change was fundamental. Quit my job for something different. Quit the something different too. Started a new business, pivoted the business, got public speaking opportunities and learned to run a webinar, did more public speaking, started getting paid for public speaking. Wrote a book that grew my business. Stopped wearing black clothes all the time. Started carrying around emergency confetti 🤣

The Club and I think the first Retreat equally was a little shot of confidence to start my own business in 2019. And since then it’s been helpful to see others go into “law-adjacent” journeys like myself that aren’t your traditional legal practice role. I’ve always felt like a round peg in a square hole but the Club has a variety of different types of “holes” so you can be whichever shape peg you want and still feel welcome / like you belong.

I found The Club because I was actively searching for lawyers who practiced the way I wanted to practice - with kindness and respect. What I found was a wonderful group of the most amazing people. Since finding The Club, and with a few pushes off the cliff from Clarissa, I have completely changed my firm. I gained the confidence to grow from a sole practitioner to a "proper" law firm, moved premises, grew a team, changed names and structures, introduced procedures and fixed fee charging. But the most important change is that I am now willing to "be seen", and have taken steps to be seen within the field. Thanks to the support of some lovely friends, and evidenced by some magical photos from Jason, I have been able to more fully take part in my firm and be seen rather than hiding behind my letterhead and written words.

I started owning my nickname from the Mastermind group and started helping other lawyers more 🤣and..... I made some really good friends and found colleagues all over Australia that align with my values! I know that I can pick up the phone to at least 20 practitioners who are in my corner when I need them.

I am now comfortable that my practice is a work in progress ❤️ just like me 😎🌈🙏
